Wanderlust

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

Traveling always puts things into perspective for me. It helps me step out of my comfort zones and reevaluate what is happening in my life. It helps humble me and reminds me that there is so much more to life than just my world and the bubble I live in. It helps me take less for granted and helps me understand I'm here for something greater than myself.

I spent 10 days in Belize and it was really an adventure. The first portion of my trip I stayed at Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge and it was absolutely beautiful. I had my own little villa right next to the pool in the middle of the jungle. The first day I saw two separate Mayan ruins and while the sun was setting I went horseback riding through the jungle. The horses took us through a small river where you can see howling monkeys on the tops of trees. My horse's name was Black Mustang and I baby talked him the entire time. I learned that I can't walk straight after riding a horse and your private parts will hurt a few days after. The next day I traveled about an hour to get to a zip-lining course. Obviously, as shown below, I had to remake Kanye's zip-line pose. haha. We were over a thousand feet in the air gliding over tree tops. I can't lie I was terrified at first because I'm scared of heights but it's such a rewarding feeling doing something out of your comfort zone. I really pushed myself this trip to do things I've never done before. That night it poured rain and in the jungle the echo of the thunder comes in ripples. I've never heard anything like it before. The next day I hiked a giant mountain in the jungle and saw what they called the sleeping giant because the mountain's shape looks like a giant man is laying down on his back. After that I went kayaking.

The last few days I went to Caye Caulker which is an island in Belize. Then afterward went to San Pedro. I watched the sunset on the beach and the colors reflecting off the water looked like a desktop background. No matter what picture I took, it couldn't capture how beautiful it really was so I eventually stopped trying and just tried taking in the moment. While in San Pedro, I ate local food, went parasailing, and jet skiing. It was so gorgeous and I definitely recommend anyone debating on where to travel to head to Belize.
